Daewon Song
Daewon Song is co-founder of Almost Skateboards along with fellow skater Rodney Mullen. In 2006, Daewon was named Skater Of The Year by Thrasher Magazine. Daewon is a goofy-footed skater and is well known for his techincal street skating tricks.
Born in 1975, Daewon Song moved from Korea to Torrance, California USA at an early age. A kid in his neighborhood gave him a skateboard when he was 13 years old, and Daewon rode that board until it was destroyed. He saved up some money and bought a used board to ride. A small skateboard company named Gemco came through on a demo tour and spotted Daewon skating, they . They saw him skate, and immediately signed him and he started becoming popular.
Daewon was once said to be in a skateboarding gang called the Ruff Riders. He was first sponsored by World Industries and appeared in their video Love Child in 1992. In 1999 he left World Industries to start his own company, Deca. He won Skater of the Year in 2006.
Daewon was showcased along with Rodney Mullen in the skateboard video series of Rodney Mullen vs. Daewon Song, Rodney Mullen vs. Daewon Song Round 2, and in Almost: Round Three. He was also featured alongside Chris Haslam in the miniramp video, Almost Cheese & Crackers by Almost Skateboards.
